QUARTZ: Quartz consists of silicon dioxide & is one of the most well-known minerals on earth. It occurs in basically all mineral environments, and is the important constituent of many gemstones. Quartz frequently forms the inner lining of geode. Most geodes have an inner layer of larger crystalline Quartz, and an outer layer of Chalcedony or banded Agate. Quartz is often clear but can appear in other colors depending upon mineral composition and temperature of the earth. Although Quartz can be found in many locations, we typically source our sacred, high-frequency specimens directly from Brazil and sometimes the Himalayan Mountains.
